This story is about “Thurston”, a big friendly pit bull who was adopted by a loving family from an animal shelter. Thurston has a doggy best friend but he doesn’t live nearby. Thurston wishes he could see him more often. One day Thurston is curious about all the activity he hears going on at the house next door to his. He peeks over the tall wooden fence to see what is happening. He has a big surprise! He is getting new neighbors and they are exactly the kind of neighbors that will make him very happy!

Joanie Janov Andrews is an animal lover from Elizabeth, Pa. While raising a family and working as a registered nurse she enjoyed writing short stories and poetry. When her family was younger she took them to a local animal shelter looking for a dog that would be safe with children and cats. She was introduced to a sweet pit-bull mix named “Thurston”. Thurston and Joanie fell in love with each other and she adopted him. Joanie was so impressed by the dog’s intelligence and sweet disposition she began writing a series of children’s books about him.
