In April 2021 John Hayes, who lives in Tasmania, Australia with his family, started work on a children’s school and community program, Let’s Play Catch. John was driven by his own experiences and the idea that a simple game of ‘catch’ can be an effective tool for improving the wellness of all Australians through physical activity, greater social connectedness, and building confidence. This book ‘Mittsy, the Magical Baseball Glove’, is John’s first book and has been written to thank and inspire all the school children throughout Tasmania and Australia that John has been fortunate to introduce to sport and the magical games of baseball & cricket. Those children have taught John about self-worth, kindness and to look beyond oneself to make a difference in society through sport.
