Bobby Chalker had spent a long time alone, meeting Joanne in the supermarket was the start of a love affair that only comes along once in a life time. When that love was snatched away because of the perceived negligence of another person the need for revenge burns brightly. Bobby wanted revenge but had no way of achieving it until an inheritance changes everything, Plans can now be put in place, but in all things there are glitches, Bobby could not for-see the glitches and the problems that would hinder every turn, only the military training and support from old comrades could make a difference.

John Lawrence started to write short stories whilst still at school, even winning a prize or two. Now into retirement, he has the time to put down on paper the stories rattling around in his head. In revenge, John brings to life everyone’s need to seek retribution when a perceived injustice has been committed against you.
The author has a good grasp of tension building, letting the details of Bobby’s past slowly unfold. The writing is crisp, and there is a sense of melancholy that surrounds Bobby, which makes the longing for revenge believable and palatable.
Lawrence has the lively imagination of an author who could craft a good cat-and-mouse tale
