The Red Coat [EPUB ebook]
Giving and Gratitude during The Great Depression

支持

Dorothy is a young girl living during The Great Depression. Her coat is threadbare. She has holes in her shoes. Dinner often consists of nothing more than beans and cornbread. Her mother earns a meager salary at the shirt factory. But, they do the best they can with what they have.

Then through the generosity of a school mate, Dorothy is given a gift, which not only meets a physical need, but demonstrates the depth of love others show through giving.

This story was adapted from one that the author’s mother (Dorothy) told her regarding her own life during the 1930s. Not only does this lovely story teach love and gratitude, but it presents the life many endured during this time period of financial hardship in America.

关于作者

Kimberly S. Hoffman, children’s author, not only writes stories with themes of overcoming obstacles, thinking outside the box regarding disabilities, self-sacrifice and more, but she speaks on these topics at schools, libraries and civic clubs, often incorporating dance into the programs.
The Red Coat is her seventh children’s book.
Kimberly grew up in Columbus, Indiana, where trips to the library happened nearly every week of her childhood. She loves to read and thinks the library is a wonderful place to be. She knows that books can teach us, transport us to new realms, inspire us, cause us to cry, or make us fall over laughing.
Kimberly loves to dance and can often be found dancing around her house (and sometimes in public), creating choreography to whatever song is playing. She also creates essential oil diffuser jewelry, which she sells under through Queen Bee Designs.
She is married to Paul J. Hoffman, an author and publisher. Together, they have six children, one grandchild, and many grand-fur and feather babies.
