Poetry is the decomposition of reality through the prism of ones experiences. The shadow of light on a page creates the metaphoric realm of the soul. Without imagery, life becomes meaningless. Unknowingly, my interest in creative verse began at the age of three and a half when my family and I travelled on a cargo ship from Lake Charles, Louisiana to San Juan, Puerto Rico. As the gigantic bow of the vessel sliced through the natural beauty of the Caribbean Sea in a harmonious dance, I embraced the sounds and images of the Spanish language and divergent people of this magical island for fourteen years. From here, my travels to Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Spain, Chile, Peru, France, Greece, Italy, and many other countries continue to fuel my poetic passion. Presently, I reside in San Antonio, Texas, and I am proud to have lived primarily in the Hill Country of this state for thirty-seven years. Its rich and diverse heritage of Hispanics and Texans adds to the caldron of my expression.
