Henry Maximilian “Max” Beerbohm (Londres, 1872 – Rapallo, Italia, 1956) se educó en Oxford, donde destacó como gran caricaturista, y ya en 1892 “The Strand Magazine” difundió su obra gráfica. Integrante del grupo formado por Oscar Wilde, Robert Ross y Alfred Douglas, entre otros, también cultivó la escritura con tanto éxito como el dibujo.
En 1911 publicó su única novela, Zuleika Dobson (Acantilado, en prensa), y en 1919, la recopilación de relatos Seven Men. Acantilado ha publicado su cuento El farsante feliz (2012).
