This book basically compiles a series of essays or articles on selected topics of general interest, followed in most cases by a list of quotations taken from various authors. Such topics include education, use of studying Latin or Greek, and pacifism. Other topics include history and progress, law and justice, patriotism and rise of nationalism, science and Christianity, and truth and nature of reality.
