RICHARD DEY studied with Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Fitzgerald at Harvard College, and was poetry editor of The Harvard Advocate. He had previously attended a writers’ conference featuring James Dickey, and served in the U.S. Army as a journalist. A graduate of Tabor Academy where he sailed in the schooner Tabor Boy, he has worked as a commercial fisherman, yacht skipper, freelance journalist, editor, and as a professor of maritime history and literature in a college program along the Atlantic seaboard and Lesser Antilles.
