Her solitude comes to an end when the son of the most prosperous farmer in the area falls deeply in love with her. But Kitty seems to have her mind focused on different things… This remarkable story is full of insights into the link between the truth and the soul. It’s a classic Victorian read with plenty of details of rural social life and a great amount of mystery.

Sabine Baring-Gould (1834-1924) wasan Anglican priest, hagiographer, novelist, folk song collector and a scholar. He is remembered particularly as a writer of hymns, the best-known being ‘Onward, Christian Soldiers’ or ‘Now the Day Is Over’. He also wrote many novels and short stories.
