Callie is an adopted handicapped girl whose parents emphasize prayer and trust in God as a child. It is ingrained in her that she has more than enough when she has faith in God. She adopts a puppy and learns that you do not have to be perfect and that God uses people and animals to do great things!

Sandra D. Rhoads retired from the Shawnee Mission School District after working 20 years as an educator. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Marketing from Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born in Richmond, Virginia and currently lives in Liberty, Missouri with her husband. She was also adopted at the age of two years. Some of her hobbies include making origami gift boxes, solving crossword and Sudoku puzzles, working in her garden, and bowling. Sandra is an accomplished actress and playwright in her church and community. She is passionate about teaching and encouraging children to develop a love for reading and learning. Sandra has written two other children’s books, “A Bug Flew into My Ear!” and “My Red Velvet Purse – A True Story.” On her desk is a plague that reads “If God brought you to it, He will lead you through it.”
