While much has been written about the impacts of climate change and mitigation of its effects on individual buildings or infrastructure, this book is one of the first to focus on the resilience of whole cities. Tristan Kershaw is a building physicist whose research focuses on the effects of climate change on the built environment, the origin and manipulation of the heat island effect, and increasing resilience of the built environment to climate change. He received the CIBSE Napier Shaw Medal in 2012 for his part in the creation of probabilistic future weather years using the outputs of UKCP09 as part of the EPSRC-funded PROMETHEUS project.
