Four of the stories originally appeared in Cather’s first collection, The Troll Garden (1905), including her best known short story, ‘Paul’s Case.’ Other stories include ‘Flavia and Her Artists, ‘ ‘The Diamond Mine, ‘ ‘A Gold Slipper, ‘ and ‘Scandal.’
