Outline of Chinese History – Reading Classics of the Republic of China is the only monograph left by Mr. Zhang Yinlin in his short life. It was originally a part of high-school history textbook that the author was appointed to write. According to his own view of history, the author made a strict selection of Chinese historical facts before the Eastern Han Dynasty, combined the previous research results with his own "gains in exploration", and wrote about the social changes, ideological contributions and the personalities and movements of some important figures in a storytelling way. With properly arranged chapters, lively and moving writing skills, thorough and comprehensible wisdom of thinking, the work reveals the author’s talent and intention. In this publication, the author’s unfinished Chapter XII and three texts written by the author for Song History Part of the book are listed as appendices. More than 20 color pictures are also selected.
