Mr. Zhou Ruchang (1918-2012) studied twice at Yanjing University in his early years and later taught at West China Union University in Chengdu and Sichuan University. In 1954, he returned to Beijing and successively held positions such as editor at the People’s Literature Publishing House and researcher at the Chinese Academy of Arts. From the 1940s to the beginning of the new century, Mr. Zhou not only wrote a large number of academic works, essays, and poems, including "New Evidence of Dream of the Red Chamber" and "Poetry Appreciation, " but also participated in the collation and editing of literary ancient books. He also properly preserved a batch of valuable documentary materials, which are the extremely rich letters, poems, and calligraphic works from his teachers and friends. These documentary materials contain rich cultural and academic information and have important historical and cultural values. In view of this, the editorial department of the Zhonghua Book Company specially invited Ms. Zhou Lunling to edit this book, reproducing and publishing the representative letters, poems, and paintings of Mr. Zhou’s teachers and friends in their original form, with reference annotations, to benefit the academic community and serve as a reference for related research.
