Gerant is a homeless boy who the local town smith takes a risk with and starts as his apprentice, seeing his passion and potential. In learning his trade, Gerant stumbles across some ancient smithing lores that fuel his desire to make superior weapon blades that are lighter, stronger and more valuable. After his apprenticeship, he moves to The Capital, building his skills and knowledge, using the ancient lores which impart his blades with superior properties. Quietly growing a reputation for quality, Gerant learns his patron is using his blades to overcome opponents using the ancient lores Gerant has imparted on the weapon. He was only trying to make his blades the best and this is a consequence he had never anticipated. What to do?

This is David Phillips’ first foray into fiction. He has always had lots of ideas and imagination and wanted to put it all together and see what emerged. He enjoys a wide variety of novels, including historical, sci-fi and fantasy. Outside of this journey into fiction, David has worked as a medical researcher and research manager for many years. His other interests are delving into family history, playing golf and jogging to stay active.
