Theirs was a marriage of “true minds” because they had so many interests in common, but they did have one serious disagreement.

Stephen Miller is the author of seven books, including two that were widely praised: Conversation: A History of a Declining Art (2006) and Walking New York: Reflections of American Writers from Walt Whitman to Teju Cole (2014). His essays and op-ed pieces have appeared in many newspapers and magazines in the United States and Great Britain, including the New York Times and the Washington Post. He is a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal.
