About the author

Stephen Miller is the author of seven books, including two that were widely praised: Conversation: A History of a Declining Art (2006) and Walking New York: Reflections of American Writers from Walt Whitman to Teju Cole (2014). His essays and op-ed pieces have appeared in many newspapers and magazines in the United States and Great Britain, including the New York Times and the Washington Post. He is a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal.
