This book provides a non-technical but scientifically rigorous overview of climate change and the Scope of Climate Change. It is one atmosphere wrapping around the planet Earth, and our air needs tender, loving care.
The book explains the reasons for climate change, including the accumulation of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, ozone, and water vapor; these gases trap heat, resulting in a warmer Earth. It highlights the historical context of climate change, comparing the current situation with pre-industrial times, and talks about the Pollution of Earth’s Atmosphere.
Discusses the measurements that confirm the increased presence of these gases in the atmosphere.
The Nuances of Climate Change, mainly the human contribution, are detailed.
The book details the various nuances of climate change discussed in the book, such as the impact on ecosystems, weather patterns, sea levels, storms, wildfires, and torrential rains.
Explores how human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation, contribute to these changes.
The book has an underlying message of hope, emphasizing that changes in human behavior can make a positive difference and encourages readers to take action and reduce their carbon footprint. Mitigating climate change is everybody’s business.
The book’s intended audience includes both adults and young adults. It could also be supplementary reading for college-level (101) and high school-level courses.
The book calls to action for readers to address climate change every step of the way. The book’s significance is in raising awareness and inspiring change.

Dr. Arati Bora Baruah, a retired Senior Specialist Engineer with a remarkable 35-year tenure at Boeing, spent the last decade of her career as a flight test engineer. Hailing from Guwahati, India, she received her education from local institutions such as Cotton College and Guwahati University before pursuing further studies in the USA at Indiana University, Bloomington, and later at the University of Washington, Seattle, where she earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. As a ‘loaned executive, ‘ Boeing entrusted her to serve as a professor at a local engineering college for two years, and she continued as an adjunct professor for an additional decade. The majority of her professional journey unfolded at Boeing. In the past decade, Dr. Baruah has dedicated herself to addressing water issues in India and combating global warming through extensive research and the application of her scientific expertise. Following her retirement from Boeing, her notable achievements include studying the circular nature of the Brahmaputra River using models, substantiating reasons against linking the Teesta, Santosh, and Manas rivers, investigating manmade floods in Guwahati, and contributing articles to Amar Asom on subjects like the Subansiri Dam and the potential hazards of constructing mega dams for hydroelectricity in the Eastern Himalayas, particularly due to the soft-soil nature of the region. Additionally, she has explained flooding dynamics in terms of rivers accumulating silt and sedimentation. In the realm of communications technology, Dr. Baruah made a significant impact by being an early and vocal advocate for the Assamese Unicode standard. She has authored books in English and also in her native language of Assam.
