Forty days and nights is a time of hardship and trial, but it is also a time to transition and hope. Hardships change people. Trying times always do. So often, however, people focus on the hardship or trial and forget that there is a journey to be embraced. They are on their way home, but they focus on the pain of the present rather than on the hope of a new landing place. When that is where they center, they can easily lose their way. People can live with the confidence that while trying times do take them somewhere, God is already there and at work long before they arrive.
