Instead, his literary legacy includes pioneering translations, such as ‘The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night’ (1885), often referred to as ‘The Arabian Nights’, ‘The Kama Sutra’ (1883), and ‘The Perfumed Garden’ (1886).
