This passionate book describes a consultation method for practicing psychotherapists, which combines training and experiential learning. Unlike many other supervision models for therapists, Therapeutic Group Consultation, is based on developing the person of the therapist, as the primary influence on therapy and secondarily on clinical strategies for treatment.

I began my doctoral studies in 1971 with a fellowship at De Paul University in Chicago and completed my Ph D in 1978. I began working as a staff psychologist at Pine Rest Mental Health Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1975 and became a licensed clinical psychologist in 1980, at which time I began my private practice. During the last 45 years, I have been an adjunct faculty member at Trinity Christian College, Hope College, Aquinas College, Grand Valley State Colleges, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, and the Institute for Individual and Group Psychotherapy (IIGP). During this time period, I have had an active practice of individual, group, couples, and family psychotherapy and supervision of other therapists. I have also consulted with mental health agencies, businesses, and regional hospitals. I have been a board member at the Michigan Group Psychotherapy Society and IIGP for the last 20 years. Richard and I supervised our first group of psychotherapists 30 years ago, worked separately for many years, and now have co-led groups for the last 3 years.
