Ilany Kogan ist Lehranalytikerin der Israelischen Psychoanalytischen Gesellschaft, Supervisorin in der Klinik und Poliklinik für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie des Kindes- und Jugendalters am Universitätsklinikum in Hamburg-Eppendorf, in der Münchner Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Psychoanalyse (MAP) und am Psychotherapeutischen Zentrum für Kinder- und Jugendliche in Bukarest sowie Ausbilderin und Supervisorin an der IPA Psychoanalytic Group in Istanbul. Sie war Mitglied des wissenschaftlichen Beirats des Fritz Bauer-Instituts für Holocaust-Forschung in Frankfurt am Main.
Kogan hat intensive Forschungen mit den Nachkommen der Holocaust-Überlebenden betrieben. 2005 erhielt sie den Elise M. Hayman Award for the Study of the Holocaust and Genocide.
Sie ist weltweit als Ausbilderin und Supervisorin tätig und arbeitet in Tel Aviv in privater Praxis.
