A wonderful companion to Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath, this new edition of Somebody in Boots features an introduction by Colin Asher, who is writing a forthcoming biography of Algren.

Somebody in Boots, relates the wanderings of Cass Mc Cay, a poor Texas drifter during the Great Depression, who ends up among the down-and-outs of Chicago. Among Algren’s many honors was a National Book Award for the novel
The Man with the Golden Arm.
