Chaplain Campbell travels with General Sherman through Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina to the end of the war. His grief over the death of his youngest son leads him to the soft arms of alcohol. He has rejected God and joins the fight on the line against the enemy with the other brave men. He rages on the battlefield and becomes oblivious to the death and dying around him. Then something profound happens, and his whole life changes.
