The present campandium covers a whole range of areas like present and emerging threat perceptions in fisheries sector, research needs, both basic and applied, sustainable management of fisheries and aquaculture, institutional and governance issues in open-water fishery, impact of climate change on fisheries, impact of various forms of pollution on fish and so on. We, therefore, believe that emphasis would be given on the holistic management of aquaculture and open-water fisheries taking cognigence to various research findings on various facets of ecology, biodiversity and fisheries. We are also confident that this book, which is an outcome of the 21st All India Congress of Zoology, would be handy to the students, researchers, development agencies and planners associated with the sector, as it may provide a kind of reference book or a guide for bringing positive change to the sector.
