Paul, writing to the Philippians from prison, certainly knew what it was like to have his plans thwarted. Yet, as this most joyful of letters conveys, he maintained a robust confidence in God’s power and love. Paul’s circumstances make this letter especially poignant, revealing as it does a man enduring huge difficulties and hardships.
