This absorbing 1915 biography, written in a brisk conversational style, was penned by the influential English poet as he contemplated enlisting in the Great War. Thomas covers the life and times of John Churchill, the First Duke of Malrborough (1650-1722), whose career spanned five monarchs, and who fell from grace during the political battles of Tory versus Whig.
