The concept of religion surfaced in order to establish ethical and moral standards that would bring peace, order, and civility to a violent world. The first pioneers in this effort were Abram and Sarai, who attempted to establish the Jewish religion. This book describes the four-thousand-year-old struggle to achieve this goal, a work in progress to this day, as Judaism still strives and as other religions have surfaced over time. Will civilization ever reach religions ultimate goal of bringing stable peace, order, and civility to a cruel world?

Sheldon Cohen has practiced Internal Medicine for forty years, and served as a medical director of a Chicago suburban hospital and two Health Maintenance Organizations. As a member of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, he served as a quality consultant for hospitals in the United States, South America, Europe, and consulted with the Ukraine Ministry of Health for the development of a nationwide hospital accrediting body.
The author, as his name implies, is a Jew with an intense interest in Jewish history.
