This book is written by two award-winning instructors. Ken Rand and Kim Thomas met at an educational conference in Chicago, where Kim received her Illinois Teacher of the Year award. After a short but fruitful conversation, they quickly discovered that their teaching philosophies of connecting and engaging students were remarkably similar. They decided to continue their discussions and soon collaborated on what they hoped would be the definitive book on ‘how to teach.’

The other author, Kim Thomas, has taught junior high school math for the past 29 years and has recently been awarded the honor of Illinois ‘Teacher of the Year.’ Kim was inducted into her alma mater’s Hall of Fame and has been a keynote speaker at various educational conferences.
