An award-winning author of three novels, he has also produced nineteen nonfiction books on public policy, politics, and government, including, as coeditor, Locked in the Poorhouse: Cities, Race, and Poverty in the United States, and, as coauthor, a recent e-book, These People Want to Work: Immigration Reform.
