Issues involving autonomy and relatedness have become particularly topical. They touch on central concepts in our lives such as self-confidence and love, as well as freedom and loneliness. Where do we stand in the face of this upheaval? What are the resulting tasks facing psychodynamic psychotherapy? This volume addresses these and other important questions.

She was previously head physician in the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy in Munich. Prof. Michael Ermann is a psychoanalyst in Berlin and Emeritus Professor of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich.
