Walter Besant (1836–1901) was a British novelist and historian. His fiction was quite successful; he also wrote on the history and topography of London.
E. H. Palmer (1840–1882) was a British orientalist and professor of Arabic at Cambridge University. His most prominent writings were on Eastern languages.
