Kate Ristau is a folklorist and the author of two middle grade series, Clockbreakers and Wylde Wings, and the young adult series, Shadow Girl. She is the Executive Director of Willamette Writers, a nonprofit organization for writers. You can read her essays in The New York Times and The Washington Post.
