Conflicts that arise in voluntary organizations present special challenges, particularly due to the voluntary nature of the work. Goal-oriented conflict management that is suitable for everyday use is therefore particularly important. The authors outline the ways in which conflicts develop, progress and escalate in such organizations. On this basis, they draw lessons on ways in which conflicts in voluntary work can be resolved by the members, illustrated with practical examples taken from a wide range of voluntary activities.
