He finds that the characteristic qualities of modern mass-mobilizing movements bear more impressive similarities to the paradigmatic Fascism of Benito Mussolini than to ‘classical Marxism.’ Thus he offers a new conceptual framework for the analysis of contemporary totalitarian movements and established regimes.
