On Line Citizenship discusses the evolutionary trends of cities in terms of e-government in the present and future technological scenario. The focus is on the transformation of the relationships between city administrations and citizens due to Information and Communication Technology. On a broad perspective, the book intends to present opportunities and threats in the development of on line citizenship in the framework of the European Union. On Line Citizenship gathers original contributions and documents presented at the International Conference On Line Citizenship – Emerging Technologies for European Cities promoted by Telecities-Eurocities and the City of Venice in co-operation with Venice International University and sponsored by SUN Microsystems, held in Venice, May 30-31, 2003. Eleonora Di Maria, Ph.D. in organization and business management, is senior research at the Te DIS Center, Venice International University. She is researcher at the University of Padova and she also collaborates with Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. Her research interests focus on the impacts of information technologies on economic developments and on the evolution of local systems and cities related to ICT.
Stefano Micelli is associate professor of business management at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and Director of the Te DIS Center (Center for Studies on Technologies in Distributed Intelligence Systems), Venice International University. He is author of many articles and books focused on the impacts of ICT on firms and local manufacturing systems of SMEs.
