Amy lost her mum at a very early age. Having been brought up by an uncaring father, she has struggled all her life to find a comfortable place in the world where she could enjoy friendship and the easy conversations that come with it. Then she meets Pete, a warm and sympathetic university lecturer. Their initial light-hearted banter quickly grows into a deeper relationship.
Together, she and Pete are able to challenge her father’s version of her early years. Their quest takes them to France where they begin to uncover the truth of Amy’s past. Alan was brought up in Cookstown in Northern Ireland. He went on to study at Trinity College Dublin and Cambridge University. For over thirty years he worked as a lecturer in the Centre for Mathematics Education at the Open University. He now lives in the Midlands of England with his wife Sheila.
