Amy lost her mum at a very early age. Having been brought up by an uncaring father, she has struggled all her life to find a comfortable place in the world where she could enjoy friendship and the easy conversations that come with it. Then she meets Pete, a warm and sympathetic university lecturer. Their initial light-hearted banter quickly grows into a deeper relationship.

For over thirty years he worked as a lecturer in the Centre for Mathematics Education at the Open University.
